Australia's government has a bad habit of introducing taxes for a specific purpose without resulting improvements. Everyone in Australia would have to be sceptical. We pay our tax accountants enough money already. This article is a look at a few of the grassroots issues from an ordinary Australian.

Australia like many other developed is about to adopt a carbon tax. We all need tax accountants do deal with the multitude of taxes we already have. Is targeting individuals and companies, which actually means taxing individuals in the end, the best way to go about this? Should there not be a proactive means of reducing our C02 emissions? Paying for pollution is a very negative idea. The carbon tax that Australia is about to introduce will only result in higher prices for the regular person and does not really mean a better environment. Here are some real issues for us as ordinary people that highlight massive problems with this new tax and the existing taxes of other countries – a look at the situation from a common man.

Double, Triple Dipping. Australians pay tax on their income and then a further tax on products and services they buy. We pay for roads with our car registration and the up-keep of the community through rates on our homes. We don’t see an improvement in any particular area when a new tax is introduced for it. Why should this be any different?

Millions of Dollars Given to Poorer Nations. As part of Australia’s new tax, a large fund of money will be given to the United Nations each year to help poorer nations. I would like to ask if any of these politicians have ever been to and seen any of these countries? I have spent considerable time in West Africa. It might as well be considered to be one huge rubbish dump. All I saw of United Nations efforts was bigger and flashier cars for those in power. What is the point of giving funds to those countries if the whole system is corrupt? How many years have there been UN programs operating in regions like West Africa with absolutely no effect? Your numbers might look great on paper, but I have been there, and I know what is going on.

What Happened to the Promises? It was only in the 2 last years we have seen a slashing and cancelling of rebates that were offered for the installation of solar power for Australian homes. The Green Car Fund has also been destroyed. These are only 2 examples where the money that was intended to help the environment, business and consumers has suddenly disappeared.

No Carbon Credits? Do you know that you can only get carbon credits for new tree planting? This means I do not get carbon credits for the thousands of trees on my property that I have chosen to protect. I do not use my land for farming and have not cleared it like most other people have. For me to get carbon credits, I would have to chop down all those trees and plant seedlings again. How does that make sense? How can existing trees that have been cared for and protected not be given value in a carbon emissions scheme?

We all want to protect our environment and slapping a tax on that does not mean it will happen. These are only a few examples that highlight; there is not a genuine and positive strategy to improving our environment in Australia. The government has wasted millions of dollars on new power stations that have already been shut down. The government’s job for the government’s accountants will be busy doing a lot of calculations with this new tax. If our politician’s lunch expenditure was reduced, we could save enough to feed all those people in West Africa. Call me whatever you want, but that is what I would call change.

here are some situations where most of us are aware that we are paying federal taxes, such as when purchasing alcohol or tobacco.

There are many instances in life, however, where we’ve probably never considered whether or not the government is making money from our transactions.

Do taxes apply when buying infant formula, when a child has a vaccine, when they go to college or travel abroad and require an international money transfer?

Hidden taxes are everywhere and, arguably, they all have a purpose whether to encourage or discourage certain behaviors, or to fund associated costs.

Some taxes are used to cover the cost of services such as building runways, as in the case of airline-ticket tax, or the tax on gas, which pays for highways construction. Others are designed as a form of discouragement and form of revenue, such as the tax on liquor, cigarettes or gas guzzlers.

One of the most significant and important reasons for introducing tax on items is to manipulate the economy.

By applying excise duty to imported goods, it is possible to keep their prices higher than those manufactured at home, giving domestic suppliers the upper hand when competing for business.

The result of these import taxes is a price hike of 32% on brooms, 18% on some infant formulas and an enormous 143% on peanut butter.

Wherever you look, there are hidden taxes to be found and they’re not always obvious, as many are simply included in the price and not separately identified.

Childhood shots such as the DPT vaccine attract a 75-cent tax, which is paid into a fund to compensate those injured as a result of such shots.

Those traveling by boat on a waterway are taxed $3.60 for the privilege, whilst those fishing will have paid 10% tax on the equipment that they have purchased.

Other items don’t have a specific tax attached to them, but are considered to be income, meaning that a payment will be due at the end of the tax year. Some aspects of school scholarships attract federal taxes, a cost that is not always taken into consideration.

Those in debt would be forgiven for thinking that if a creditor writes off the debt then that is the end of the matter, however, this can be treated as “income” in some circumstances.

The lack of transparency and knowledge surrounding the tax system has led to attempts to exploit the innocent such as in the case of the well known scam relating to international money transfers.

In this case an individual is contacted by a foreign company and asked to assist with an international money transfer and told that an individual pays a much lower tax than a corporation. In return for acting as a middleman they are promised a commission, which turns out to be as fictitious as the tax that is being avoided.

One alternative to the complicated tax system in place is the introduction of a value-added-tax system, such as that found in most industrialized nations. Under such a system, all products are taxed at every step of the manufacturing process, the cost of which is ultimately borne by the consumer. Whilst this would mean a tax on all items and not just speciality ones, the upside would be a level playing field and greater transparency.

The IRS has said that it plans to stop providing the information needed to allow banks to issue tax refund loans. This move is hoped to stop many of the high interest loans that are controversial for many.

Critics have attacked the loans for many years as being predatory as well as unscrupulous in their function as tax refund advance payments.

Persons securing these loans may pay as much as two hundred dollars according to one advocate for minority or low income groups from Durham, North Carolina.

This group reports that in North Carolina alone 470,000 households will use the refund loans each year. The total amount of money that is spent on the service is almost $50 million each year.

According to critics, the people that apply for these loans are given the impression that they are getting their tax refund much quicker. They do not realize that the extra money that they pay only gets them their money 7 to 14 days early.

Critics have also blamed the IRS for enabling the agencies for these loans, by providing services to the banks which is also known as the debt indicator. This tool gives banks an alert if the applicant will be getting the full amount of the refund or if they will receive a reduced amount due to outstanding student loan defaults, back taxes, child support and other unpaid debts.

On Thursday, the IRS reported that it is no longer necessary to offer the debt indicator since refunds are processed so quickly online.

This means that banks can no longer tell if they are going to recover the money that is loaned. This makes the risk the bank is taking much larger. Therefore, only a few banks in the US will continue to issue such loans.

These loans are generally processed by the services that also offer tax preparation. The industry has not been happy with this decision and claims that the elimination of the debt indicator will not end loans, but will just make them more expensive for those who want to obtain the loans. Banks will simply charge more for the loans in order to cover the greater risk.

The large chain H&R Block says that these loans serve needs in low-income clients. The quicker tax refund is helpful to those who live from one paycheck to another and try to cover debt.

Jackson Hewitt, a New Jersey based Tax Service says that the current downturn has increased the need for these loans.

Are you so pressured and stressed of the way how your life goes because of debts which keep haunting you day and night? Well, now is the time to paint a smile on your lips because the IRS debt attorney will help you in all the rough times that you are going through. One of the things that are greatly avoided by taxpayers is the IRS wage garnishment. Aside from getting all your properties, this will also cause the greatest tragedy in your life because your emotional life will always be affected.

So if you would like to avoid that, settle your IRS debt as soon as possible with a reliable and trustworthy debt attorney. This is the most licit way on how you will be able to get out of your debts because you can have the opportunity to pay just a minimal amount at your own pace. This happens when he contacts your creditors and proposes the most palpable solution that will apply to your debts. If they would fortunately agree to the proposal, you are lucky enough. After that, all you have to do is to pay your creditors and pay your attorney as well.

In order for you to make sure that you will not be paying for nothing, all you have to do is to make sure that you are hiring the one that will give you professional service. Aside from that, you must also assess yourself if you really qualify for his service because there are debts that can never really be settled by him. This is because of the fact that he has no power over secured debts.

As time gets tough, you should not allow yourself to be financially unstable. So while there is still enough time, all you have to do is look for debt relief options and hire an IRS debt attorney in order for all your debts to be settled the fastest and the most secure way possible. Always think positive because as long as there is someone to help you out of your problems, you can get out of it. With a debt attorney, you can already confidently say goodbye to your IRS debts.
